If you are a New Englander, odds are good that you own a piece of L.L. Bean apparel. The brand is practically a legend in these parts, proudly producing quality sportswear and equipment for 100 years.
And to celebrate that 100 year mark, L.L. Bean has begun a year-long mission to re-ignite America’s love of the outdoors, with a particular focus on getting more children outside.
As part of the celebration, the L.L. Bean Bootmobile, the larger than life version of the company’s most iconic product, will go on a multi-market tour starting in Boston from April 13-16th.
Expert guides from the L.L. Bean’s Outdoor Discovery Schools will lead various family-friendly, and free, outdoor activities on the Boston Common.
Participants will have the chance to try their hand at fly casting, knot tying, and several backyard style games, as well as hang out at a mock campsite and learn a thing or two about tent set-up.
These events are intended to get children and families excited about the outdoors and being active.
Also, on June 16th at Millennium Park in West Roxbury, the Boston Summer Kayak Series will begin.
Mayor Menino will be stopping by at 9:00am to announce Boston’s Summer Kayak series, a free program which will provide local children and families with the opportunity to try a new outdoor activity, led by L.L. Bean’s expert guides, to beat the summer heat.
Participants will receive an introduction to recreational kayaking and learn basic skills and safety, followed up by a trip out to the Charles River. These sessions will be open to Boston residents ages eight years and older.
In celebration of this exciting news, L.L. Bean would like to offer a $100 L.L. Bean gift card giveaway for one lucky Coupon Goddess reader.
