A Peek Into My Shopping Cart

When Leela had a fit last week over too much round cereal, I promised that I'd find a good deal on angular cereal as soon as possible. And after Kellogg's put out a bunch of printable $5/5 and $4/4 coupons last week, I knew it was just a matter of time before I could make her cereal dreams come true.

And as luck would have it, the stars aligned. This week Stop & Shop has a deal where you get $6.00 off your order if you buy four boxes of Kellogg's cereals. A great deal, right? Wait, it gets sweeter....

While checking out the cereal choices today, I spied this coupon which was attached to the Rice Krispies boxes. Buy two of the listed cereals, get a full size bag of M&Ms for free.

I have no idea what M&Ms have to do with cereal. Strange bedfellows indeed, but free chocolate is free chocolate. Who am I to judge?

I also had .70/1 printables for Kellogg's Crunchy Nut cereal which offered two choices, round or flake. I almost bought the round to mess with Leela's head, but I didn't because I'm a good mom.

After coupons and the $6.00 instant savings, each box was around .29 to 69., plus the free M&Ms. A pretty spectacular deal. In total, I bought 25 boxes of cereal today. I still have enough coupons to purchase ten more boxes.

After Stop & Shop, I ran over to Shaw's to pick up some chickens that were .99/lb. I figured I'd cruise the aisles to see if there was anything else that caught my eye, and I'm glad I did. I found this great deal on Starkist tuna. Each Lunch To Go was .25 each after doubled coupons. A great addition to the school lunch box!

Once I got home and took the picture of the cereal haul, I noticed this coupon on the sides of the Mini Wheats boxes. If I clip each of these coupons and redeem them this week, each box of Mini Wheats will cost .29/box.

I also found this strip of coupons inside the Frosted Flakes. I daresay Leela will have plenty of geometrically pleasing cereal options for months to come!

After spending all day in the air yesterday, all I wanted to do today was sleep. I'm so glad I forced myself to go to the grocery store this morning.

How about you? What are you on the hunt for this week?

I hope that Leela is very happy with all the non-circular choices she has now!

Cara- She did the happy dance when she saw the new boxes come into the house. Too bad we have a policy of finishing the old before we start the new, lol.

I am also after cereal. Did you know about the $10 Kellogg's rebate?

The free chocolate is awesome, I wonder if those peelies are regional.
We normally can't get our cereal for cheaper than $0.50 a box which is still awesome though!

I can't wait to see Leela eating her geometrically varied cereal in her new Spilt Milk bowl! Great deals Melanie. Glad you got home safely!

She must be one happy kid. I about died laughing when I read the original post.

Monika & Sheila- Thanks for the reminder on the rebate. That makes it an amazing deal!!

Seana- Ha! You know it! By the way, I saw your comment on the dress, but it's been too hectic here to respond properly. I can't believe a dress I wore was in a magazine. Craziness! I'm rarely on top of fashion trends, lol. Hopefully it will stay in style long enough for me to get some use out of it!

Anonymous- I'm betting we'll see her new cereal on the floor after she spills it out of that super cool foam bowl. The boys told me I was nuts when I brought it home. I still think it's awesome.

Courtney- She was super excited about the new Krave cereal. Square and chocolate!! Actually, I'm pretty tempted to tear the box open myself. Looks yummy!

So I could have done better with my haul but I had the kids and it was a bit hectic but I did pretty decent.

I also got different coupons than the ones you got in your frosted flakes:

I was hoping for those pop tart coupons wondering if my other box has different ones.

M & M's sure do go with cereal. Make Rice Krispy treats and put the M & M's into the mix and on top!!

BTW your post about Leela had me rolling. Glad she is happy with the new cereal choices.

Melanie,

Did you buy all the cereal in one transaction or did you have to split it? I'm going tomorrow and want to buy more than 4 if I can find any left!

D- Yup! I bought 12 at a time and it took $6 off three times. No issues.
