Did you feel the ground shake a little this morning? It could've been the mothers stampeding to Target for the semi annual toy clearance. A very big day if you are a deal seeker. Our stores only had couple of aisles of toys, but the toys that were on clearance were really good ones.
Last year the clearance in my stores was a bit girl heavy. Lots of Barbies, Moxie Girlz, and tons of baby dolls. This year is the year of the boy, because our stores were stocked to the hilt with boy toys.
So, I took advantage of the opportunity and stocked up on some gifts for my nephew. This Thomas The Tank Engine set is so incredibly adorable! My sons were big into Thomas and I still have their set from when they were little. I'm sure my nephew will love this too.
Originally $79.99, marked down to $23.98. A steal!
My next favorite find is this Cars Lego set. It was the only Lego set marked down past 50% off. It was originally $59.99, marked down to $17.98. Another incredible deal.
Now, this Vtech toy is going into my Toys For Tots stash. Originally $49.99, marked down to $14.98. I especially love donating toys that are fun AND educational.
Another gift for my nephew, this Dinosaur Train set was originally $49.99, marked down to $14.98.
This super cute nativity set will also go to Toys For Tots. Originally $27.99, marked down to $8.38.
One of the few Moxie Girlz sets that didn't have micro mini skirts and bare midriffs, originally $19.99, marked down to $5.98. I have to say, I think this is a really cute doll. A nice change of pace from the dolls that look like
One of the few gifts I picked up for the girls. Blythe's Littlest Pet Shop. Originally $19.99, marked down to $5.98. Shannon is crazy into animals right now. Last night she announced that she wants to be a vegetarian when she grows up. This is the same kid who asks for drumsticks for her birthday dinner.
When I asked her why she wants to be a vegetarian, she said because she loves animals. Which makes sense, right? When I asked her how she was going to give up drumsticks, she looked at me quizzically. What does that have to do with fixing broken animals, she asked. That's when I realized she meant veterinarian, not vegetarian. And then I blew Pepsi out my nose.
These crazy things made me nuts before Christmas. The girls wanted them, but I couldn't find them. Of course I'd find them after the holiday. Kachooz, originally $9.99, marked down to $2.98.
This is sort of a little thing, but I'm putting it aside for Easter baskets. Tinker Bell reusable sticker book. Originally $6.99, marked down to $2.08. There's also a Gnomeo and Juliet sticker book marked down to $2.08.
These books are awesome. Lots of stickers and activity pages. The original price of $6.99 was fair for this book. $2.08 is a bargain. My girls love stickers, so this should make them happy!
All in all, a very successful Target toy clearance experience. Be sure to head out to see what's available. In my area it's the first day of the sale, so you should be able to pick up similar deals. Do come back and let me know what you find!

Very nice! I'm a little jealous - I'm at work and can't hit the sale until late tonight.
My daughter would love those Moxie dolls you picked up. Maybe I will head down to the store and see if they still have any.
Great deals, Melanie!
I sure hope there's something left at my Target tomorrow morning. I couldn't make it today since the driving conditions weren't that great here in Central Mass and I had a million things to do here at home.
Thanks so much for posting this today. I knew about the sale, and was going to go today, but didn't really feel like going out in the rain. Maybe I'll stop on the way home from work today! I'm glad you were able to get so many deals.
Thanks for sharing! I am quite broke at the moment, but would be willing to pick up a few items to put away for toys for tots.
I got there at 9:00am, to see this lady check out 14 carts full of toys....(one of the employees said she was donating them all to kids in need), but yes, shelfs were empty by the ime I got to the toy section.
Oh well, better luck next time, huh ? :)
Esther
Score!
You have been pretty lucky with the Moxie Dolls! I would love to find these...along with the Dinosaur Train Set...too cute!
I'll have to see when I get down there, rather sooner than later! ;0)
That nativity is adorable!
Yea, you!
:( My children no longer want toys, per se. If it's a must-have video game, sure. Otherwise, clothes, sneakers, gift cards for the mall, iTunes cards, etc. So obviously, partaking in this clearance only makes me want even more for my kids to go back to actually being kids. (I'm the mommy who would rather rock their children for hours on end than see them so independent.) Sigh. Love the Pepsi out your nose line. That's definitely classic :) I don't know if it's the way you wrote it Mel, but I knew she meant vetenarian prior to you typing it. LOL Thanks for the smiles. I'm going to grab some toys just for the hey of it...Toys for Tots seems like a good enough reason to shop these great toy deals. Nancy R. (PA)
My little guy is obsessed with Dinosaur Train. Probably too late but worth checking my store in the am, you just never know!
I just posted my Target haul...http://www.desertdealsdiva.com/?p=6439
Super jealous of your 70% lego find. I didn't make it to the store until 9:30, so if there HAD been one I am sure someone snatched it right up! I am quite pleased with what I did find though!
Hi Mel,
Love the pole dancer dig. Having been a teacher for 32 years, I am sickened by the image some toys put out there. You wouldn't believe the way some middle school kids dress.
My kids are all grown up (hoping to some day be a grandma and shop the toy sales again). I'll have to look at the sale and see what I can get, though. We have a Santa house in my town, so I know that all the toys I donate are given out locally.
It looks like you've got next year's shopping covered! (for the kids anyway) I didn't know this was going on. I'm going to head to Target today and see what I can find.
Wow Mel, you did great! Little People Nativity? Be still my heart! Seriously though, you got a lot of premium toys. My store just didn't have anything that exciting. Lots of the time 4 toys stuff but very little in the way of premium toys.
I just have to say this too, and believe me I am not trying to start a flame-war here so edit if you feel the need. But across the savings blogs I read, I've seen posts yesterday and today that range from aw shucks maybe next time to some pretty upset people who don't get to the store until mid morning and can't believe someone just checked out with multiple carts of toys. Hey, thanks to the blogosphere everytime a target toy clearance rolls around a whole lot more people are in the know about target's M.O. When it comes to toy markdowns. So yea to all you bloggers because you really are influencing how America shops. Everyone else, treat it like black Friday and be there when the doors open if you want to play because all is fair in love and clearance.
I am so jealous too, but glad u got some great stuff. Ours was total crap and what was left wasnt really even at 70%even though it had the signs. I did see thhe lego Flos cafe but not in clearance, i might have to go back to price check it! Hawaii really stinks when it comes to clearance sales, i miss my San Diego! That nativity scene has been on my list for years but whenever i find it it is full price still over $20 on clearance. Ugh. Glad people are finding some good buys!
To Carol W.: Just love what you wrote, "all is fair in love and clearance." That should definitely be a mantra or motto of sorts. Had to comment on that because I live by that as well when it comes to clearance. :) Made me smile this morning.

My daughters begged for the Little People Nativity set for Christmas, but to have it shipped from US to Canada was going to be about $75. I am so jealous that you picked it up for less tham $10. I can't wait until 2013 when Target comes to Canada.
Great deals! Well done Melanie! Love this post; from the earthquake from the stampeding mothers, the pole dancers and the Pepsi out the nose with the vegetarian veterinarian! LoL!
I am crazy jealous over that nativity set. I saw it online just before Christmas and tried so hard to find one for my daughters first Christmas. Hoping I will find one for her next Christmas. Great score!
